Angela and the Alexandria Dogs

Help Angela to feed the dogs on the streets of Alexandria!

If you know Angela you will know of her love for animals, she supports through the school many animal charities especially  Jarjeer Mules Equine and Donkey Rescue and Sanctuary in Morocco and with Dadeg Kamel in Alexandria, Egypt. Angela is taking a week out of her busy schedule to do some hands on work and she could not be more excited!

A helping hand on its way

Angela is travelling on the 6th March to Alexandria to check on the amazing work of  Dadeg. Unfortunately due to Dadeg´s ill health, after her time in prison,  they will not be able to meet up, however her son, Ramez, will be taking over and showing Angela the dog facilities and how the whole operation works. Whilst on her visit, Angela is planning on feeding as many dogs as she can and for this she is seeking your support and donations.

Who is Dadeg Kamel?

Dadeg Kamel is a “one woman solo act”who rescues, seeks veterinary aid and finds loving homes for hundreds of dogs found in the most terrible conditions on the streets of Alexandia, Egypt. Dadeg relies solely on private donations to do her charitable work.

As an animal welfare activist, she has been getting more and more attention from countries around the world, especially the UK and the United States, drawing attention to how animals, in particular dogs, are treated in Alexandria. This exposure is no advert for a country like Egypt whose economy partly relies on tourism. It was just a matter of time, as authorities waited for Dadeg to cause a “riot” (not by any means a violent riot). Whilst trying to protect a dog the authorities seized the opportunity to arrest and incarcerate her. Dadeg has spent more than a month imprisoned in inhumane conditions. Since her release she is suffering with illness and the psychological trauma of her ordeal and the conditions that she was held in. If you wish to see some of the work that Dadeg does, here is the link to her Facebook page. We warn that some of her content is quite graphic.
